Mao's last dancer
2 or 3 days before New Year's Day, I was flipping through an Aussie magazine and saw a feature on the upcoming movie in Australia - Mao's last dancer. And I immediately remembered my aunt gave me this book few years back. Quickly search for it and there it is, lying in the storage box, looking a bit older and pages more yellowish.

I don't know why but once I start reading I never put it down, and I devour the book in 5 days. The book's quite thick given that it's an autobiography.

I really like the honesty of the author and how he wrote his lifestory. The kind of bitterness and harsh conditions they had to suffer through the Mao & communism period in China really reinforced what I had learnt in CSE and CLL lessons. Not just the facts that I've acquired, but through the real life story of a peasant boy, it's like a colour tv showing the kind of life at that time and how it is easier to recall about things about Mao & communism now. The power of stories.

Also, really inspired by the kind of perseverance, passion and love he had in life, his dance, his family etc. I just feel whatever it is, nothing comes easy straightaway, and sometimes even, we really have to fall many times, fail then we'll succeed. The key is persevering and not giving up I guess, but with the love, the joy and strength from God - the long is long, but I know I will never be alone. No matter how many times we fall, He'll always catch us into His embrace.

The movie's coming up in Apr 22 - Pastor Lia & Mae Ann's birthday! And I'm really excited to watch it after watching the trailer on youtube! So gonna catch it! :)

Failing doesn't mean you're a failure but giving up does. Don't give up!
